The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) is pleased to announce that Italy has been selected to host the IULTCS World Congress 2029 following the unanimous approval of its bid by the IULTCS Executive Committee.
The proposal was presented by Tomaso Pellegrini, recently elected President of the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC – Associazione Italiana dei Chimici del Cuoio).
The bid highlighted Italy's internationally recognised leather sector, its integrated leather value chain, and a congress programme centred on innovation, sustainability, circular economy and digital transformation. The proposal also includes technical visits to leading Italian leather districts and opportunities for scientific and
industrial collaboration.
The Congress will coincide with the 125th anniversary of AICC, celebrating more than a century of contribution to leather science and technology.
Following the presentation, the Executive Committee conducted a formal vote. With 20 voting members present, the proposal received unanimous approval.
Preparations will now begin with the establishment of the Organizing Committee, selection of the host city, and development of the scientific programme.
Statement from Tomaso Pellegrini
“We are honoured by the confidence placed in AICC and the Italian leather community. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world and delivering a congress that promotes scientific excellence, innovation and international cooperation.”
